Disk Naming Conventions - HP-UX 10 onwards

Below is some example output from ioscan -fn
ClassI H/W Path
ext_bus0 8/4
SCSI Interface
target0 8/4/10
disk2 8/4/10.0
target1 8/4/11
disk3 8/4/11.0

The two disks shown above will have device files c0t10d0 and c0t11d0

Format is c#t#d# , i.e.

  • c# = card number
  • t# = target number
  • d# = LUN - normally 0 unless RAID array
