>Reinstalling device files

insf -C class -e will reinstall the device files for all disks present

e.g. insf -C disk -e

Note: Although it is not advised to plug devices into scsi buses with the device and controller turned on (it can blow the fuse on the controller), with hot swap devices such as HA disk enclosures, disks may be added with the HA/server powered up. However, you may need to run ioscan before the disk is recognised.

To reassign device files to hardware devices:

  1. delete incorrect device files using rmsf

  2. mksf -H hw_path /dev/dsk/device

    OR for raw devices

  3. mksf -r -H hw_path /dev/dsk/device
