Online JFS

Uses fsadm command.

  • fsadm -F vxfs -D /dirname - reports directory fragmentation

  • fsadm -F vxfs -E /dirname - reports extents fragmentation

Extending a mounted File System

  1. Use lvextend to extend the logical volume

  2. fsadm -F vxfs -b number /mountpoint

    where number is the number of Megabytes x 1024. e.g. to increase a filesystem to 100Mb , the number will be 102400 .
