cd /stand/build
/usr/lbin/sysadm/system_prep -s system
vi system (perform required changes)
/usr/sbin/mk_kernel -s /stand/build/system
mv /stand/system /stand/system.prev
mv /stand/vmunix /stand/vmunix.prev
mv system ..
mv vmunix_test ../vmunix
reboot

Note: All the available default settings are kept in /usr/conf/master.d, statements put in the system file will select which to use via the config pgm.
